Here we are at the penultimate day of National Poetry Month.

TheĀ NaPoWriMo challenge for Day 29 was to write a poetic memoir of random memories. Mine are all from my early childhood at Mamaw’s house.

NaPoWriMo Day 29 – Memories

I remember winter nights and bonfires,
potato wedges with herbs.

I remember Pan-Stik makeup and rouge,
Inches of greying black curls.

I remember MTV and scrunchies,
dancing in the living room.

I remember fresh tomatoes and corn,
dinners of beans and cornbread.

And I pray that I will never forget.
