How apropos that today’s NaPoWriMo challenge is to use a line that you’re afraid to write given I have spent most of the day struggling with anxiety and panic.

While I am open to speaking about my battle with mental illness, I still find it difficult to put my feelings into words. So, I’ve written a chant poem, repeating the line I’m afraid to write and pushing myself further into discomfort.

NaPoWriMo Day 9 – A Line You’re Afraid to Write

Heart pumping and limbs shaking,
Sometimes it’s too frightening to go outside.

Arms tingling and legs quaking,
Sometimes it’s too frightening to go outside.

Mind racing and stomach churning,
Sometimes it’s too frightening to go outside.

Shame spiraling and eyes burning,
Sometimes it’s too frightening to go outside.
